Watched Primetime last night...

I'd heard of Randy Pausch and what was happening to him and to his family, I'd even seen snips from his "Last Lecture," but I was so moved last night by him and by his wife. What AMAZING parents!! I have to go and listen to his lecture when I have the time. I want to try and listen all in one sitting. Hmmm...wonder if I could find an MP3 of it?? THAT would be perfect.

Even the bits and pieces of his lecture and the sound bites of his way of living, his way of BEING were inspiring to me. His wife...more so. From what I could see, from what she said, from how she behaved, she really is a wife and mom to emulate and not cause she's such a great housekeeper or so soft spoken or efficient or even kind and patient. It's because she is or is truly striving, and succeeding wonderfully from what I could tell, in putting her husband's needs and her children's needs before her own, but not in martyr-like fashion. She is doing it because to do that actually meets her needs so much more perfectly. I really felt that she wasn't trying to set an example or convey a message to other wives and mothers, but she was just living her life the best she can...on purpose.

I really admire that. It takes such a strong will and so much energy, but it's really what we're ALL supposed to be doing. What she is doing, how she is living is really not remarkable and because of that it's all the more inspiring.
