Musings on my first visit to Ren Fest

Well, we finally ventured out to the Renaissance Festival today. It was expensive, crowded and not overly large family friendly. I'm glad we went. I think it was a cool new thing for the kids to see and experience. I'm not sure we'll go again for a long time, but it was kinda fun.

A couple of things struck me. There are an awful lot of grown ups who like to play dress-up. Many of these grown ups, especially the ladies, feel that dress up requires you to have 5/8 of each of your boobs popping out the top of your dress/bodice. Many, many more of these grown up ladies enjoy wearing jingly gypsy scarf belts. Admittedly, they are very cool. I couldn't help but wonder, however, if these ladies have ever happened upon a mirror and and used it. If you are blessed with a rather wide bottom, it's probably not the most attractive look to adorn said bottom with horizontal stripes of silver or gold festooned with jingling discs. That is all.

You just needed to go with someone who has Ren Fest experience. Like 20+ *years* of Ren Fest experience. I know all of the fun stuff and more importantly, all of the *free* fun stuff to do.
