Cook's midlife crisis...

Cooking. I adore it. I love trying new things, I love doing intricate, somewhat difficult recipes, I love the clean up, I love the organization of planning a meal. Truly, I love it all. What I do not love is putting all that time and effort in and having 5 noses turned up at what I've made.

Don't get me wrong. My kids are rarely rude about what I make for dinner, but I'm their mom. I KNOW when they hate something and are just eating it because they have to. I'm now in some sort of apathetic crisis mode. I'm bored with most of my recipes and I hesitate to try new things because it's so often a waste of time and food.

This is depressing me. Grocery shopping has turned into pure torture. Meal planning is tedious...at best. It must be some sort of midlife crisis of the housewife variety. How do I get over it?

I vow to find and try ONE new recipe a month. Maybe that will help and at the same time minimize the risk of a fridge full of unwanted leftovers. If anyone has any better suggestions, please feel free to share them. OK, the frustrated cook is off the prepare for Mass... Happy Sunday!
