See you, CU!!!

So, today's the day I've been waiting for for 6 weeks. I'm going to open a new checking account at new bank! For years I've been getting paid for my shipping work with an out of state check. Way back when I deposited the very first check, the lady in charge of such things said that they would wave the 5 day hold that they normally mandate for large amount out of state checks. FABULOUS! One of the perks of banking with a credit union, right?

Well, fast forward to December. Recently my CU merged with a larger one based in IL. Chris went to deposit my check and they told him they would be holding it for 5 days. I figured it was just a new teller or something, so I called. Well, I was very rudely informed that they would NOT wave the hold anymore. After several more December check related SNAFUs, I finally got the hold lifted for that check. I vowed that we would be leaving the CU ASAP.

That day is today. I cannot WAIT to walk in that place and close all our accounts. The branch manager is a, well, a you-know-what. I just wish we were richer so that us leaving would even matter to them, but it matters to me. So, I'm dragging the Littles into the local branch of a large national bank and opening a new account. I never thought I'd be so excited to do something so tedious!!
